the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for

Ideas for Parents
|
You may want to...
- Introduce your child to the greeters at the front door
and the ushers at the worship space door.
- Introduce your child to the adults and children sitting
near you when you come in.
- Find a seat near the front so your children can see. Children
pay attention and participate more when they sit near the
front.
- Take your child for a last drink of water at the water
fountain or to the bathroom before the call to worship.
- Get a children's bulletin, crayons and lap board outside
the worship space door. Older children can save the bulletin
for during sermon.
- Take a few moments to quietly discuss the church bulletin,
music, banners, and flowers with your child. Mark the hymns.
Talk about the colors of the day.
- Share a Hymnal, song sheet bulletin or Bible with your
child. Holding a book together at their eye level will help
your child feel a sense of participation.
- Stay seated with your child while you are sharing things
and help them follow along. Soon your child will recognize
words such as God, Love and Jesus.
- Whisper worship instructions to your child. They learn
by doing.
- Allow children to write their own names on the friendship
register, so what if it takes up three lines. Hand children
the offering plate or help them with it rather than passing
it over their heads.
- Introduce your child to the Nursery or Sunday School leaders
before worship.

We would like you to...
- Know that every Sunday we have a children's message towards
the beginning of worship and that it is geared for children
ages 3 through 7, though older children are welcome.
- Come forward at the children's message with unsure or
spirited children.
- Know that a continuously fussy or noisy child may disturb
other worshippers.
- Know that Nursery care and Cribbery care is available
during the entire worship service and that it's O.K. to
get up in the middle of the service, or even in the middle
of the sermon, and take your child to the nursery or cribbery.
- Keep a watchful eye on your children during fellowship
time after church. Sports are to be enjoyed outside.
- Please try to keep children's food and drink over the
tiled areas and thoroughly clean up spills.
- Please leave noisy and weapon-like toys at home.
- GIVE THANKS to God for the presence of children in our
congregation. They are a blessing from God.
