Ribbons of Remembrance
Purposes of the Project:
To honor the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have lost their lives in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom - To prayerfully consider how we can provide better support to the families of U.S. troops from our church and our area -- before, during and after deployments
- To hold in our prayers the war-torn countries and all the effected people of Afghanistan and Iraq
- To Pray for World Peace
How you can help: Please call Don Anderson, team leader, for more information; Volunteers are needed to insert the names of the fallen into sleeves, seal the sleeves with tape and attach strings to the sleeves on a continuing basis. Your participation is greatly needed and appreciated!
Dedication: On October 7 during World Communion Sunday and the Annual Peacemaking Offering. Please see our Ribbons of Remembrance photo gallery to see how the project has come together.
Why did we start this project? Our “Ribbons of Remembrance” project surfaced as an idea during our annual Adult VBS discussions and took off like wildfire. It was inspired in part by a similar “Ribbons for Peace” project at First and Franklin Street Presbyterian Church in Baltimore.
The Ribbons team is very grateful for the support given to date. However, additional monetary donations will be gratefully accepted.
The Baltimore Sun published "The least that we can do" on December 30, 2007.
The Capital Newspaper published an article about the Ribbons project on December 5, 2007.
