As of August 2009, the School of Music has hired a new Executive Director, Joshua Horsch.
Conductor and Pianist Joshua Horsch is currently the Director of the Ark and Dove School of Music in Odenton, MD and is a piano faculty member at the International School of Music in Bethesda, MD. Joshua recently completed a Master's Degree in Orchestral Conducting at the Pennsylvania State University where he was Music Director/Conductor of the Sinfonietta and Assistant Conductor of the Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras. As the conductor of the Sinfonietta, Jushua dramatically increased the size and quality of the ensemble by transforming it from a 35 member chamber orchestra into a 95 member Symphony Orchestra capable of playing the major works from the Symphonic repertoire. Other positions at Penn State included Conductor/Artistic Advisor of the Penn State Innovation Orchestra, Choir Director of the Huntingdon Presbyterian Church, Conductor/Music Director for the State College Community Theater, and Cover Conductor for the Central Pennsylvania Youth Orchestra. Previous positions include Conductor/Music Director of the Ithaca Opera Project, Assistant Conductor of the Ithaca Community Orchestra, Conductor/Co-Music Director of the Ithaca College String Orchestra, and Staff Pianist at Ithaca College. As a participant in the 2009 Oregon Bach Festival Master Class in Choral - Orchestral Conducting, Joshua recently performed sections of J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio with the Oregon Back Festival Orchestra and Chorus while studying with renowned master conductor Helmuth Rilling. In the summer of 2008, Joshua was featured at the International Conductor's Festival in Kiev, Ukraine where he conducted four concerts with the Lyatoshinksy Chamber Orchestra at the National House of Organ and Chamber Music. Joshua received a Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance from Ithaca College and was a semi-finalist in the MTNA National Piano Competition as well as the Oberlin International Youth Piano Competition. Joshua's charismatic personality and desire to bring the best available music to all venues will allow the Ark and Dove School of Music to expand its choices for instruciton, programs, and musical influence throughout West Anne Arundel County.
