Adult Choir and Choir Led Worship

Ark and Dove is blessed to have many talented singers and instrumentalists who participate in the Adult Choir.  The Adult Choir is led by Dr. Rebecca Echols, and together they lead the music at the 9:30 worship service.  The music that the choir prepares ranges from traditional early Baroque through the 21st Century.  During the past 3 years, they have performed two large Cantatas with orchestra, collaborated with the Children's Choirs, and prepared very moving Christmas Eve and Holy Week services.  Additionally, special soloists from the greater Baltimore area are brought in for special services to share their gifts with the church.  The Adult Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings in the sanctuary from 7:00-8:30, and in the summers they have a "pickup" choir and meet only on Sunday mornings at 8:30.  If you feel called to join this wonderfully talented group, please contact Rebecca for more information at rechols@arkanddove.org .

Instrumental Ensembles

Ark and Dove is enriched by the talents of several instrumentalists in the congregation and there are several opportunities to play in worship services. For Middle School and High School aged musicians, the Dove Ensemble provides an opportunity to present special music and is lead by Erin Morrison. For High School and Adult musicians, the  Ark Ensemble provides an opportunity for rusty musicians and talented students to come together and provide musical leadership in worship. This group is lead by Dr. McGillivray. Rehearsal times for both groups are limited to a more sessional time commitment and generally are organized for a 3-5 weeks before a specific service. Instrumental soloists are often needed to help accompany the choir or are welcome to play for prelude or postlude music at many points during the church year. For more information, contact Dr. Margaret McGillivray. margaret.mcgillivray (at) gmail.com.

Children's Choir

We are excited to have our Children's Choir at Ark and Dove, led by Director of Music, Dr. Margaret McGillivray.  The choir consists of young singers ranging in age from 5-10.  This group is full of energetic singers, who prepare music to share in worship.  They sing regularly during worship services with a  variety of music - from African works in the Zulu language to Christmas music. This year's theme for Children's Choir is "Around the World" and we are exploring music and movement from various countries around the world including Ghana, South Africa, Canada, Ireland, and Argentina. The children's choir also forms the core group preparing for the Children's Spring Musical on May. For information on registering your child for either group, please contact Margaret at margaret.mcgillivray@gmail.com.

Band Led Worship

Ark and Dove is excited to have a very talented and thriving music program, and the adult band plays a big part of that program.  The band is currently on a break as the church reimagines worship. The band includes guitars, bass, drums, piano, keyboard, mandolin, violin, auxiliary percussion, and of course, plenty of singers!  We prepare and share with the congregation many of the songs heard on stations like 95.1 Shine FM, and also go off the beaten path a little with celtic music, world music, musicals, U2, and Mumford & Sons.  A few times during the year, we also prepare special music Sundays, such as scenes from Godspell, a Christmas Revels concert, as well as Christmas Eve services and Holy Week services.  If you feel a calling to be part of such a dynamic and spiritually-led group, please contact our Music Director, Rebecca Echols, at: rechols@arkanddove.org.

Youth Band

Ark and Dove Youth Band is part of the youth ministry of Ark and Dove. It is our desire and goal to use our gifts and talents to praise God through worship. We want to have a heart of worship; we want youth to know that worship is not just about singing, it’s about the heart – it’s about a lifestyle that reflects a heart that keeps Jesus first.

The youth band leads worship every six weeks, and also leads worship on Youth Sunday every year. Youth Band meets on Sundays from 12:30 to 1:30 in the Sanctuary. Come join us!
